Photo - LER Standard Stock Motor Car, 1929
The cab front of a 1929 Standard Stock "A"
end driving motor (DM) car showing the covers for the three jumper sockets. The
sockets are for auxiliary, brake and control, the last nearest the camera. The
telephone/emergency lighting cable is the thin cable, at waist level now, below the
driver's window.
The Ward coupler below the central buffer was
automatic for coupling, when the two cars were pushed together but had to be manually
uncoupled using a hook on the end of a pole to move the latches back.
